PPN Submission on introducing Charges for Recycling Centre Use in Co. Wicklow

The first item on the WCC Agenda for Monday 3rd October is to be a discussion on the possibility of introducing charges for using the Wicklow Recycling Centres.

Co Wicklow PPN has run extensive consultations with communities this year and the subject of waste management was brought up at a number of them. The message we heard was that recycling needs to be encouraged and there should be more opportunities to do so. We think that applying charges could discourage people from recycling.

We have pulled together some of the inputs from our consultations into a brief submission and sent it to the Wicklow County Council Elected Members with the hope that it will help support and feed into the discussions.
