Building and Land Acquisition Measure 2026: Closing Date for applications from Local Authorities is Friday 29th May

The measure provides funding to local authorities to acquire vacant or derelict buildings and land for redevelopment into multi-use community facilities. A total fund of up to €13 million is available, with individual local authorities eligible to apply for up to €500,000 to purchase a maximum of तीन properties or sites.

Local authorities are responsible for identifying suitable properties, submitting applications, and bringing acquired sites into public ownership for future community use. All proposals must clearly demonstrate how the property or land will support town regeneration and meet local needs.

Community groups and stakeholders are encouraged to engage with their local authority to highlight potential buildings or sites and to ensure that local priorities are reflected in proposals.

This measure builds on the 2025 scheme, which supported the acquisition of 24 properties across the country for redevelopment into community assets.
